Triangle Super League Power Rankings -Week One

Week One of the Triangle Super Cup kicked off last weekend on Twitch and Zac Hines and Zack Leischner have released their Power Rankings for the first week of play.

Zac Hines

Moros FC (1)
I think the team with the most unknowns going into this league came out of the gate with a purpose. They were the only UPSL side to score in week 1 and the only UPSL side to beat a USL2.
Next Match: at North Carolina FC U23 — This match will be a good battle between two, of what I’m predicting early on to be, top contenders.

North Carolina FC U23 (2)
I have bias when writing about my team, I admit that. They came out, scored early, and beat a side they should have beaten. A strong start to the season.
Next Match: vs Moros FC — See my comment above.

Wake FC (3)
Wake FC didn’t put up remarkable stats, maintaining just over half the possession with few shots. They found the back of the net off of a free kick to earn their first three points, but almost scored an own goal a few minutes before. I worry that their defending won’t hold up as the games continue.
Next Match: vs San Lee FC — A good opportunity to patch up any defensive errors, the boys in Sanford weren’t able to create chances despite controlling most of their last game.

Raleigh International FC (4)
Raleigh Inter put up a good showing against a hot Wake FC side. They showed promise by keeping the possession close and generating more chances. You have to get the job done at home if you want to be a top contender though.
Next Match: at SOSA FC — I’m predicting this to be a challenging match up for both sides. Potentially the highest scoring game of the league so far. Must watch.

SOSA FC (5)
The Wendell crew put up good numbers against NCFC but couldn’t find the back of the net. If they play like they did in the second half for the rest of the season, look out, this is a strong side.
Next Match: vs Raleigh International FC — See comment above.

Lazers SC (6)
Of the five teams that remain scoreless going into Week 2, I think Lazers SC showed that they can put numbers on the board. Despite maintaining only 37% of possession in their last match, they created more chances and defended well.
Next Match: at Tobacco Road FC — A hard place to play and will be up against a team that is looking to bounce back after a terrible performance. LSC will need to come in focused to take advantage.

San Lee FC (7)
Questionable tactics in the last match despite maintaining 63% of the possession. Over the course ninety minutes they only created one chance, which was on target at least.
Next Match: at Wake FC — This road game will be a tough one for San Lee. They will need to work on converting their attacking build up into actual chances if they want to stand a chance against Wake.

Tobacco Road FC (8)
Absolute shock of week one was the horrible performance by Tobacco Road. The team looked lost on attack and defense. Unable to create any chances in the last game despite a fairly even possession.
Next Match: vs Lazers SC — The Durham lads are up against a sneaky good Lazers team. They will need to figure out the kinks from the first game or it might set them back into an early hole on the table.

Zack Leischner

Moros FC (1)
Moros FC was tjhe biggest shock of the day. Even though we have never been able to see them play IRL doesn't mean they aren't good virtually.
Next Match: at North Carolina FC U23 — This is defiently going to be the best matchup of the day. Who ever can get the three points here will have a huge advantage the rest of the season.

North Carolina FC U23 (2)
The young lads started off in first place in my head but felt like I needed to move them to second place once I started writing this. Don't worry Cardinal Collective it’s still early.
Next Match: vs Moros FC — See my comment above.

Wake FC (3)
Wake FC didn't impress me much besides that lovely free kick but other than that they pretty much just played a game. Hope to expect more out of them in Week 2.
Next Match: vs San Lee FC — If San Lee plays the same way as they did in week one then WFC should be in good hands.

Raleigh International FC (4)
I feel somewhat disappointed in RIFC but then again it’s still really early. Expect RIFC to finish in the top 2 of UPSL clubs.
Next Match: at SOSA FC — This is my dark horse game of the week but predicting a W for RIFC.

SOSA FC (5)
Sosa had to play the toughest game of the day for WEEK 1 but did impress. Sosa could be UPSL dark horse this season.
Next Match: vs Raleigh International FC — Should be a fun one, second best game of the week.

Lazers SC (6)
Only scoreless game of the week but solid defense in Week 1. Think their defense will help them this season.
Next Match: at Tobacco Road FC — Hard game coming up for Lazers. A W here for Lazers would be huge down the road.

Tobacco Road FC (7)
Poor start to the season for TRFC but Im giving them the USL League Two bump for finishing in 7th this week. I expect them to bounce back in Week two.
Next Match: vs Lazers SC — Tough game coming up for the Bull City crew. lazers has a solid defense but I dont think itll shake Tobacco Road much.

San Lee FC (8)
Not sure what San Lee were doing out there on the virtual pitch. Attacking in the final third was poor. Need to make some strategic changes come Week 2 if they want to climb the table.
Next Match: at Wake FC — Tough game coming up. Wake looked to be deadly in the attack but wasn't able to finish any of their chances. Should be a fun game.
